This article provides a detailed explanation of the options in our Android app.

Below you will find a breakdown of all the options you can find in our Android app. For more information on initial setup of the app, please see Installing Freedom on your Android device.

Today

The Today tab contains information about your active and scheduled sessions. It also displays any Important Actions you need to take to ensure your blocks are working properly, as well as a feed of the most recent blog posts from our website.

New Session

On the New Session tab, you can select one or more blocklists and devices, choose a session length time, and then tap ‘start’ to begin. You can also schedule sessions from this tab. For more information, see Android blocklist and session setup.

Blocklists

On the Blocklists tab, you'll see a list of all your created blocklists. You can tap on individual blocklists you’ve created to edit or delete them. You can also tap the plus sign in the green circle to create a new list. For more information, see Android blocklist and session setup.

Focus Sounds

The Focus Sounds tab will have a list of sounds you can play during your sessions divided into different categories (Coffee Shops, Offices, etc.)

Settings

The Settings tab includes all of the settings options available within the Android app:

Account Details

Email address, account type (Trial or Premium), and current device name.

General

Locked Mode - makes it impossible to log out of the app during an active session. Learn more here: Locked Mode

Disable notifications - hide notifications from apps blocked by Freedom during your sessions

Do Not Disturb - automatically turn on your device's DND mode during sessions. This will require enabling Do Not Disturb permissions in the next section.

Time Zone - manage the current Time Zone on your Freedom account. This is the time zone that your blocks will run in.

Permissions

Block Applications and Websites - gives Freedom accessibility permissions to block apps and websites during your sessions

Device Admin - allows Freedom to run properly in the background. Also prevents the user from uninstalling Freedom via the home screen

Post Notifications - Allows Freedom to show notifications about your session details.

Do Not Disturb Mode - this permission is needed if you want Freedom to activate your device's DND Mode during sessions. You will also need to activate 'Do Not Disturb' in the previous section.

Block notifications - this permission is needed if you want Freedom to block notifications during sessions. You will also need to activate 'Disable Notifications' in the previous section.

Interface

Show blog posts on sessions tab - toggle on or off to control whether blog posts appear on the sessions tab of the app

Color Theme - tap to chose theme or set to system default

Language - tap to change the language used by the Freedom app

Preferred clock format: toggle between 12-hour or 24-hour time

Notifications

Toggle on or off notifications for session start, session end, and website/apps blocked.
