About Locked Mode

Locked Mode prevents you from disrupting an active Freedom session. It is enabled separately on your Freedom dashboard and on each of your devices.

We do not suggest you enable locked mode until you are comfortable with your Freedom schedules, because these settings cannot be disabled during an active session. Once you are comfortable with your schedules, you can turn on locked mode for enhanced productivity.

Please see below for more instructions and details on what Locked Mode does on each device.

Dashboard Locked Mode

When locked mode is enabled on your dashboard, you will not be able to:

  • Remove any items from blocklists included on an active session

  • Delete devices from your device list when it's part of an active session.

  • Edit your account timezone while a Freedom session is running.

  • Use the End Session option more than 10 times total.

When locked mode is disabled, you can:

  • Use the End Session option an unlimited number of times

  • Remove items from a blocklist, even if they're part of an active session.

  • Delete devices on your account

  • Edit your timezone

Enable or disable locked mode by selecting the checkbox next to ‘Locked Mode’ under ‘Options’ on the left side of the dashboard screen.

Android Locked Mode

When the Freedom Android app is in locked mode, you will not be able to log out of the app during an active session. You will also not be able to unblock websites by removing them from your website blocklist, or unblock apps by removing them from your app blocklist.

Enable this setting by going to Settings > General > Locked Mode and toggle Locked Mode on.

iOS Locked Mode

When the Freedom iOS app is in locked mode, you will not be able to log out of the app during an active session. You will also not be able to unblock websites or apps by removing them from your blocklist.

While locked mode is enabled, you will also not be able to toggle off the Enhanced Blocking switch during your active session.

Enable locked mode on your iOS app by going to your Freedom iOS app Settings > Locked Mode and toggling that on.

Windows Locked Mode

When locked mode is enabled in the Windows app, you will not be able to log out of or quit the app during your session. You also won't be able to enable Website Exceptions, or remove apps from the app blocklist if a 'Block Apps' session is active.

Open the Freedom Windows menu from the butterfly icon in your system tray, and head to Options > Locked Mode to enable this setting.

Mac Locked Mode

When ‘Locked Mode’ is enabled in the Freedom Mac app, you will not be able to log out of or quit the app during your session. You will also not be able to enable non-proxy mode or Websites Exceptions during an active session. Additionally, Locked Mode will prevent removing apps from your Mac’s app blocklist during an active ‘Block Apps’ session.

To enable Locked Mode, open the Freedom Mac menu from the butterfly icon in your menu bar, and head to Options > Locked Mode to enable this setting.

Disabling locked mode

Locked mode cannot be disabled while a session is running. For this reason, we suggest only enabling locked mode when you're comfortable with your schedules.

If you need to disable the Locked Mode setting on your device during an active session, please follow the instructions for Ending a Block Session.

After ending your sessions, Locked Mode can be disabled.
