How to set up an always active schedule

From your dashboard:

You can set up a 24/7 recurring schedule from your Freedom Dashboard. In the My Sessions section, click Recurring Session to set up your schedule. Here’s an example:

In the example above, you will be blocking all websites on your “Distractions” blocklist, every day from 2:00 AM until 2:00 AM.

Select the checkboxes for the blocklists and devices you’d like the schedule to include, and all days of the week. You can choose any time you would like for the sessions to start over. Some users prefer to leave a few minutes between the end and start times, so they have a short daily window to make changes if needed.

From the Freedom Android or iOS Apps:

You can also set up recurring schedules from the Freedom Android and iOS apps.

On iOS, you can use the All Day template option under Recommended Sessions:

On Android, you can create a custom recurring session that lasts 24/7:

Using always active schedules to lock Freedom

One way an always active schedule can be used is to prevent yourself from being able to log out of or quit the clients. When the schedule is running and Freedom's locked mode controls are enabled, you won't be able to log out.

Prevent logging out/quitting on iOS

If you would like to ensure that you cannot log out or quit the app during your sessions, we recommend enabling Locked Mode from the settings tab. We also recommend enabling notifications in settings, to ensure the app stays active and syncing without having to open it:

For more tips on keeping the Freedom iOS app active, see Ensuring Freedom is active on iOS.

Prevent logging out/quitting on Android

If you would like to ensure that you cannot log out or quit the app during your sessions, we recommend enabling Locked Mode from the settings tab:

For more tips on keeping the Android app active, see Ensuring Freedom is active on Android.

Prevent logging out/quitting on desktop

To make sure the Freedom app stays active on Mac and Windows devices, we recommend selecting Start at Login or Run on Startup from the Options menu. This will ensure Freedom always starts up after your computer has been restarted or logged out:

Run on startup

Additionally, if you would like to prevent the app from being quit or logged out during sessions, we recommend selecting Options > Locked Mode. Be careful with this setting if you are using always active schedules, as it will prevent you from quitting the app or adjusting settings at all times. See Mac Locked Mode and Windows Locked Mode for more details instructions.

Dashboard locked mode

When Locked Mode is toggled on via your dashboard and you have an always active session, you’ll never be able to:

  • Delete the blocklist(s) that are added to the session

  • Remove websites from the blocklist(s) that are added to the session

  • Delete the device(s) from your account if they are selected on the session.

  • Change your account time zone without contacting support.

For more information about Locked Mode controls, please see Locked Mode.

Removing an always active schedule

You may want to leave a gap of a few minutes before the session starts over every day, so you will have a window of opportunity to delete it from your dashboard if needed.

If you opt not to do this, there are a few other options for ending your block session. For more information, please see Ending a block session.
