Overview

To block apps and websites on your Android device you'll need to create (or edit) a blocklist, and start a Freedom session. Follow the instructions below to get started!

Setting up your blocklist

To set up a session on Android, you will first need to create a blocklist that includes the apps and websites you would like to block. To do this, select the Blocklists tab, and tap the button that says Create a Blocklist. You can also choose to edit an existing blocklist by selecting the blocklist name.

Name your blocklist

On the Create Blocklist screen, type a name for your blocklist.

Add Android Apps to Block

Tap Add or Remove Android Apps to select which apps you would like to block with this blocklist.

Toggle on apps to block.

Add Websites/Domains

After you have selected apps, press the back button to return to the Create Blocklist screen. Under Blocked Websites, tap Add or Remove Websites. Tap Add Custom Website to type any domains/websites you would like to block.

Add Curated Filters

You can also use Freedom’s Curated Filters to customize your blocklist. These filters contain all popular apps and websites under a certain category. To see a complete list of apps and websites included in the category, tap the category to expand it.

ℹ️ Adding a curated filter will also block the corresponding app from opening on Android during your sessions.

Save Blocklist

Once you've finished adding apps, domains, and filters, tap Create Blocklist at the bottom of the screen, or Save Changes if you're editing an existing list.

Start a Block Session on Android

Once you have created your blocklist, you can start a Freedom session! Click on the Sessions tab to create a session.

Begin a Start Now session

To run a session right away, select the blocklists, devices and duration for your session and select the Start The Session button. The apps and websites on your blocklist will be blocked right away.

Setting up a recurring session

You can also schedule Freedom to automatically run sessions on a schedule. For more information on Start Later and Recurring sessions, see Start Later and Recurring Sessions.
