About using Freedom on ChromeOS and Linux

Freedom for ChromeOS and Linux is managed through our Chrome browser extension. It allows you to use the website blocking functionality of Freedom on your computer via the extension.

Installing Freedom on ChromeOS and Linux

To install Freedom on your Chromebook or Linux computer and add the device to your account, follow the instructions below:

  1. Click on the extension, and login using your Freedom account email address and password.

If you don't have any active sessions on your device, the extension will display "Freedom is ready."

How to add your ChromeOS/Linux device to your account

  1. Once you log into the Freedom browser extension, the device you're using will be added to your Freedom account.

  2. You will then be able to select the ChromeOS/Linux device to add it to your block sessions.

How to block websites using ChromeOS/Linux

Block sessions on Chrome/Linux are initiated and managed from your Freedom dashboard. For instructions on starting a session, see Starting a block session

Note: The browser extension on ChromeOS and Linux allows you to block websites, but does not offer any of the in-app controls that our Mac and Windows apps have at this time.
