CONTENTS:

We have a dedicated browser extension for tracking and monitoring your browsing, Insight.

Insight tracks the time you spend on websites and provides a simple display so you can see where you're spending your time. You can focus in on individual sites and see your daily time on each site.

We've built Insight to be privacy-conscious.  All of the tracking data is stored locally and not sent anywhere (the cloud, our servers, etc). You can also disable tracking and hide sites, if you want to.

How to Install

1. You can find the Insight extension on our downloads page.

2. Click Install Insight, which will take you to the extension page for whichever browser you are using (Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Opera).

3. On this page, you should see an Add to Browser button. Click that to install.

Using Insight

To use Insight, simply click on the Insight extension icon (usually located at the top right of your browser window) to view your reports and access settings. Hovering over the extension icon will also show you how long you've spent on browsing the current webpage you're accessing:

When you click on the Insight icon, you'll see a breakdown of your browsing history. By default, your statistics for the current day are displayed here. You can customize this display by clicking on the other options (yesterday, last week, etc.):

If you want to see usage statistics from a custom range, just click on "Custom" and fill in the desired dates here:

To exclude a site from your reports, click the name of your desired site from the graph display:

Finally, click "exclude from report" to remove this from your time-tracking reports.

We hope you find Insight to be a simple and useful tool for developing healthier online habits and routines.

Feature Requests

Insight is designed to be as lightweight as possible, but if you want more features, let us know and we'll consider!

Troubleshooting

Q: What's the difference between Freedom Lab extensions (Insight, Limit, Pause) and the main Freedom Extension?

A: Freedom Lab extensions work to add additional features that our users have requested. Since these are standalone extensions, they do not require the Mac/Windows desktop Freedom app to function. You can learn about our Freedom Lab extensions-- Limit, Pause, and Insight-- on our downloads page.

The main Freedom browser extension requires you to be logged into the Mac/Windows desktop app to function. This extension ensures that all of your blocked pages block correctly and display our signature "green screen", and also fixes some minor issues that might cause issues with blocks not working.
