Thank you for using Freedom for Android! We are very excited to share it with you.

Here's how to get set up:

Downloading Freedom

To get started, first download the Freedom app via Google Play. Once you install it, log in with your Freedom account email and password. Your Android device will then be added to your account.

The Freedom for Android app works by blocking both phone apps and websites of your choice. Freedom for Android can also block app notifications!

Permissions Required

To block websites, apps. and app notifications, you will first need to enable permissions for the Freedom app. You will be prompted to enable these permissions as you use the app, but you can also set them up via the Settings screen.

To ensure website and app blocking works effectively, make sure "Block applications and websites" is enabled.

Do Not Disturb Mode

You can set up Freedom to automatically turn on your device's DND mode during sessions. To do this, first enable the Do Not Disturb permission in your Freedom app settings:

Then, enable it by toggling on Do Not Disturb:

You can also choose which level of DND you would like to use during your sessions. There are options for total silence, alarms only, or priority only. You can customize what is considered priority through your Android device settings.

Battery Settings

If your phone defaults to strict battery saver settings for all apps, you will need to make an exception for Freedom. For information on how to do this according to Android device type, please see Android Battery Optimization Settings.

Preventing Uninstall

You can prevent uninstalling Freedom by enabling device admin permissions. To do this, tap Enable next to Device Admin in the permissions section of the Freedom app settings.:

The device admin permission also improves Freedom's ability to run and sync in the background. Please note: this will only prevent you from uninstalling Freedom via your home screen. To prevent uninstalling through settings, we recommend blocking the settings app. For more information on app blocking, see How to block apps on Android.
